SkiStar
A welcoming employee journey – from recruitment to daily support

Who is SkiStar?
SkiStar is a leading player in Scandinavian mountain tourism, operating in several mountain destinations in Sweden and Norway. Its ski resorts are in Sälen, Vemdalen, Åre, and Stockholm (Hammarbybacken) in Sweden, as well as in Hemsedal and Trysil in Norway, which are known for their excellent skiing conditions and activities all year round.
From manual handling to innovative systems – SkiStar’s answer to 7,000 seasonal applications
When more than 7,000 seasonal applications need to be processed each autumn, the demand for efficient onboarding and clear skills development is high. A seamless end-to-end solution is essential to attract, onboard, and retain employees.
SkiStar faced a challenge familiar to many organisations: candidate information, instructions, and training materials were scattered across emails, PDFs, and manual mailings. This resulted in duplicate work, frequent candidate questions, and a fragmented onboarding experience. The solution was a combined LMS (Learning Management System) and e-learning tool—a central platform that brings everything together in one place.

Smoother candidate recruitment with a digital portal
Previously, information for candidates was spread across emails, PDF files and manual mailings – leading to questions, inefficiency and a lack of clarity. By using InfoCaption, the HR team created a candidate portal that brings all key information together in one place. Here, candidates can access clear descriptions of job responsibilities, working conditions, company information and video guides that provide a tangible picture of what it’s like to work at SkiStar. The result was reduced support requests, improved transparency and a more professional experience even before the interview.

Preboarding – a confident start before day one
Around two weeks before starting employment, candidates gain access to a digital preboarding portal via InfoCaption. This fully digital introduction is designed to create a sense of security, engagement, and familiarity ahead of the first working day. Through guides, quizzes, and instructional materials, the new employee gains insight into the company’s culture, routines, and tools. This step has proven to reduce first-day stress and ease the transition into the new role—especially in situations where the pace is high from day one.

Efficient onboarding tailored to role and needs
Once the new employee is on site, onboarding continues in a blended format – digital or in-person, depending on the role. A lift technician, for example, receives practical training out on the slopes, while a customer service representative follows digital instructions on systems and processes. InfoCaption is used to provide training for tasks such as ski pass handling, returns and equipment. These resources also serve as ongoing support in daily work. The platform is additionally used to gather niche training in dedicated portals – such as the one for Valle, SkiStar’s mascot – where staff can find everything about activities, costumes and communication, regardless of workplace location.
A flexible, end-to-end solution for the entire employee journey
With the help of InfoCaption, SkiStar has streamlined its entire employee journey – from the first contact with a candidate to everyday support on the job. By centralising materials and offering accessible learning, engagement has increased among candidates and employees, while reducing HR’s administrative workload. The solution is scalable, easy to implement and provides clear support for seasonal and permanent staff. With plans for increased video production and more language versions, InfoCaption is set to remain a central hub in SkiStar’s ongoing skills supply strategy.
