From manual processes to a smart system — SkiStar’s response to 7,000 seasonal applications
When more than 7,000 seasonal applications need to be managed every autumn, efficient onboarding and clear skills development are essential. To attract, introduce and retain employees, SkiStar needed a smooth end-to-end solution.
SkiStar faced a challenge many organisations will recognise: candidate information, instructions and training material were spread across emails, PDFs and manual send-outs. This led to duplicated work, many questions from candidates and a fragmented introduction experience.
The solution was a combined LMS and e-learning tool — a central platform that brings everything together in one place.
Smoother candidate recruitment with a digital portal
Previously, information for candidates was spread across emails, PDF files and manual send-outs, which led to questions, inefficiency and an unclear experience. By using InfoCaption, the HR team created a candidate portal that brings all important information together in one place.
Here, candidates get access to clear descriptions of tasks, working conditions, company information and video guides that provide a concrete picture of what it is like to work at SkiStar.
The result was fewer support cases, improved transparency and a more professional experience even before the interview.
Preboarding - a confident start before day one
Around two weeks before employment begins, candidates get access to a digital preboarding portal through InfoCaption. This introduction is entirely digital and aims to create confidence, engagement and familiarity before the first working day.
Through guides, quizzes and educational material, the future employee gains insight into the company culture, routines and tools.
This step has been shown to reduce stress at the start and make the transition into the new role easier — especially when the pace is high from day one.
Effective onboarding adapted to role and needs
Once the new employee is in place, onboarding continues in a blended format — digital or face-to-face depending on the role. A lift technician, for example, receives practical instruction on the slopes, while a customer service employee follows digital instructions about systems and processes.
InfoCaption is used to make training available for tasks such as ski pass management, returns and equipment. These resources also work as ongoing support in everyday work.
The platform is also used to bring specialised training together in dedicated portals, such as the one for Valle, SkiStar’s mascot. Here, staff can find everything they need about activities, costumes and communication, regardless of location.
